A COLD CALL
It's been a while, perhaps too long
She won't accept it, will she?
I've got the coins, could make the call,
Could make amends, will I?
I'm feeling lost without the child,
Could make things right, will we?
I stand alone, can't reach the phone,
Can't reach her heart, not me.
She said good-bye, it's all my fault,
Will she forgive? Not she.
Who suffers most for our mistakes?
The child, the boy, my baby.
It's been a while
I said aloud,
Or could have said,
Or would have said,
Or should have said,
But didn't.
I stand alone, I feel alone, I am alone,
The fault's my own.
Dialed the number, felt the blow.
A cold call.
Now that I have a photo of Susan Ruby K's phollage which inspired these words,
I will share it with you here on this page.
I hope the photo can be appreciated. I'm not the best photographer and the gleam
of light doesn't help matters but it is a beautiful presentation
