Jurgen's Cake - a poem by Jurgen Braunohler, Elliot Lake

"JURGEN'S CAKE.  Jurgen came from East York.  He moved up here to Elliot Lake.  He had an operation 'Cause he always ate his cake.  He ate the Wurst Things Of his life with grit    And all the Good Things too.  He didn't know just when to quit:  His appendix like a bomb it blew.    But Jurgen is a bugger.  He gobbled up his Looming Doom!    He gobbled up the road up here What next do you think  He's going to do?"  Jurgen Braunohler. Please note, "worst" was misspelled on purpose.  Wurst is the German word for sausage.  This is my attempt to resist negativism.

Old Man's Heart - a poem by Chuck Forget

Old Man's Heart
From our first words
A connection of the Divine was present
I was smitten by the words and the grey they conveyed
This old man's heart again felt tinges of a long lost feelings of love.
The journey to this place has been filled with contemplation
He teaches still of a place we can find peace in ourselves
Yet this many times has deserted him
Allowing himself to feel again the passion of another's touch and smile
Laughter and dance abound
This old man's heart is home and well again.

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day Weekend 2019!

Dear Canada, I love you,
You have been so good to me.

How blessed am I to call my home
this country proud and free.

I'm grateful for the gifts you give
Freedom, hope, and peace.

I've traveled far, seen many lands
But none so fair as  you.

Dear Canada, I love you,
My homeland proud and true.

Just a Memory Now ... a poem by Audrey Austin

JUST A MEMORY NOW

(DaMaMuBriKeMe)

Leaning on lamp post, lungs spent, he lingers,
Lest he may not make it to the next one,
Love you, yes, little heart shouts unheard,
Smothered ‘neath embarrassment,
Shame, just a memory now.

Sitting on grass beside her, she is my world,
Her laugh, contagious, captures mine,
Together, I am home where I belong,
Peaceful heaped upon my plate,
Joy, just a memory now.

Mystical marvels warm, feelings beyond begin,
Her fathomless faith radiates love,
Sisterhood, friendship, know no bounds,
Her strength is mine so undeserved,
Soul mate, just a memory now.

Relaxed in armchair, relief raised feet,
Quiet eyes reflect on words unspoken,
Lift a glass, cheers to evening,
A day’s work done and all is well,
True love, just a memory now.

Impatience rules and words are harsh,
Yet look within, see habit reign,
While brush in hand great beauty wins,
As canvas fills with dreams on wall,
Burdened, just a memory now.

Hands on keyboard, I’m still here,
My heart implodes with quiet fear,
Bring them back, don’t let this be,
The years are minutes blinding me,
This moment, just a memory now.

To Love Again .... a poem by Audrey Austin

TO LOVE AGAIN
a poem by Audrey Austin

Love let me down,

Left me wandering,

Wondering

How I could ever trust again.

Yes, love let me down,

But time brought reprieve,

Rest, and recompense

From one who cared,

One who shared,

One who taught me to forgive,

To let go, let feelings flow

To a safe place

Where I could smile and love again.

Love lifted me

And love’s name was

Brian.
